Water Quality Monitoring

Responsibilities
A wealth of surface water resources can be found within the City of Mount Vernon - from the Skagit River shoreline to fresh water streams and wetlands. The Surface Water Management Division is charged with keeping clean and protecting the health of these water bodies for the benefit of the citizens of Mount Vernon and for future generations.

Monitoring the quality of the surface water system is an important component of the program. With the help of the Skagit Conservation District (SCD) stream monitoring is performed annually in selected water bodies to help us gauge the condition of the aquatic habitat, water quality and overall ecosystem productivity.
