March is here
One of my jobs is to read the feedback from Library patrons each month. It is insightful, interesting, and sometimes disappointing, but something I always appreciate. Since we have moved to the new building, one of the constant community notes is the wish to have the library open and available more hours. I have heard this feedback, and we have begun the conversation with City Council to expand hours. Although the Mount Vernon Library Commons runs between 11% to 24% more efficiently than comparable libraries in WA, while providing up to 60% more services, new hours will still cost money, and our city is not sitting on reserves that make this an easy decision.
In other news, our kitchen is now taking bookings/users! Find out more by visiting our kitchen page at mountvernonwa.gov/kitchen. We have the first users getting close to starting! I look forward to the new adventure. Read more about the project in the Skagit Valley Herald
Finally, we are working on setting some internal priorities. If you have the time to answer a three-question survey, we’d like to know what is important to you. Click here to give us a quick direction towards our new goals.
Sincerely,
Isaac
