We just celebrated the first anniversary of the new Mount Vernon Library Commons — a true community gem.

On Giving Tuesday, December 2, we’re celebrating all the ways your support has helped the Library grow — and we invite you to help us keep the momentum going.

During these tough economic times, the Library is being heavily used. With the tight City budget and permanent end to IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) funding, community donations are crucial heading into 2026.

Any amount helps greatly. A $2000 donation adds your name to the Donor Wall.

Because of caring neighbors like you, 2025 has been an extraordinary year at the Library:

• In March, we hosted Daniel James Brown, author of Boys in the Boat to a packed house at the Lincoln Theater
• We furnished the much anticipated commissary kitchen with equipment. The kitchen will serve as an incubator for food-based businesses.
• We provided prizes for the Summer Reading Program that broke records in  participation
• We "wrapped" the Library Car, with logos and tulips — giving it visibility while doing outreach in the community
• In partnership with the Mount Vernon School District, we added a new “Learn to Read” bench — an innovative tool helping  families bridge the gap between school and reading levels (learn more: http://www.mvlibraryfoundation.org/news--stories)
• We purchased custom pedestals for donated bronze sculptures bringing color, imagination, and joy to the Children’s Library
• We provided books for kids in juvenile detention, sharing hope through reading
• We added new names to our Donor Wall
