Bids Welcome
Today is a big day in Mount Vernon City Library's history. We are going out to bid for the new Mount Vernon Library Commons. The last time the city took bids for a new library was in 1953. On that day, we went out to bid to create a dedicated space for library services. Today we bid for a library, a community center, an excellent transportation project, and so much more.
The new Library Commons is the largest economic development project in Skagit history. It will bring hundreds of jobs, offset parking for affordable housing, spur downtown development, connect businesses, bring new tourists, and always and forever foster the joy of reading in our community.
As the nervous waiting game begins for the final price, I want to thank all the city employees, our elected supporters, our patrons, our community champions, and finally, the people of Mount Vernon. Without all of you, this day would not be possible.
Thank you all,
Isaac Huffman
Library Director
