Dear Library Supporter,

Our local public library has been tested in so many ways this past year. And thanks to you, we’ve met these challenges head-on.

From expanding our virtual programs and services to offering no-contact pickup and so much more, we’ve realized something amazing in the process: The Mount Vernon City Library is truly more valuable than ever before.

If you believe in the power of your local public library, please support it with a gift in honor of Library Giving Day.

Three programs currently in the works could use your specific support this year:

  • 1000 Books Before Kindergarten-research has shown that it takes at least 1000 books read to a child to start kindergarten on the right foot.  The 1000 Books program encourages parents to read to children between the ages of 0-5.
  • Lego Robotics Kits-with the ever-increasing interest in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) education, we are excited to offer our community the opportunity to experiment in the realm of robotics with Lego Robot Kits
  • Family Science Backpacks-Backpacks stuffed with supplies, activities and tools for a family to explore the science in your own backyard, a local park, the seashore, the forest and even inside your house.

And positive progress has been made on the eventual new Library Commons facility. The City and County have finalized their agreement on the new location at 208 Kincaid Street, across from the existing courthouse. Go to our website at www.mvlibraryfoudation.org for more information.

With Sincere Thanks,
The Mount Vernon Library Foundation
