Community Seed Share & Garden FairSunday, March 15th, 2020 from 1-4 pmYou are invited to the library for an exciting free event- the Community Seed Share & Garden Fair on Sunday, March 15th from 1-4 pm! The event will begin with a free Seed Germination Workshop at 1 pm followed by time for seed sharing. We have lots of seeds to give away, but if you have saved seeds to share, you are welcome to bring them. Local experts will be available for your questions and to give you advice on what to plant at home this spring. There will also be gardening and seed-related activities for children, so the whole family can get involved. You will leave with plenty of information and seeds to get you started! Our full line-up of spring gardening programs will be announced soon!

Paw Party with the Humane Society of Skagit ValleySaturday, March 21st from 11 am-2 pmAdoptable pets from the Humane Society of Skagit Valley will be at the library for a special meet & greet event! Come meet some furry friends, donate to our pet drive, join us for pet-related crafts, and even apply to adopt one of the many pets available through the Skagit Humane Society at the Mount Vernon City Library. It's a purr-fect way to spend your Saturday. Volunteers and adoptable pets from HSSV will be in a viewing area in the Library’s Conference Room. A limited number of patrons will visit the adoptable pets in 20-minute increments. To reserve a time slot, visit the library or call (360) 336-6209. The library will also be collecting item donations for HSSV starting on March 1st and ending on the day of the event. HSSV most commonly needs: Canned or Dry food for cats and dogs of all ages, Dog Collars and Leashes, Fleece Cat Beds, Kitten Formula, and Dog Toys.
