Outreach Services

The Mount Vernon City Library strives to provide equitable services to all people in our community by providing library outreach services and programs at locations outside of the library to share with our vibrant Mount Vernon community.

If your event or location is in Mount Vernon, WA, please reach out to mvlibrary@mountvernonwa.gov to arrange library outreach services. We look forward to hearing from you!

School Visits

Our Outreach Librarian visits classes at all grade levels within the Mount Vernon School District, Conway School District, including preschools, private schools and the Skagit Valley College. For these visits we typically plan storytimes, STEM or art activities to support classroom learning. We also offer school visits to share information with students and staff about library services and resources and how to access them. In addition, the library often attends school events to offer opportunities to sign up for library cards and share library information with students and their families.

Community Events

You can find our library outreach staff at popular community events such as the Skagit County Fair, Tulip Festival Street Fair, Salmon Festival, Children’s Art Festival, Mount Vernon Farmer’s Market and more. At these events we provide information about library services, offer library card sign-ups, and bring fun activities for all ages to participate in. If you are planning an event you would like the library to attend, send us an email with the event details to mvlibrary@mountvernonwa.gov

StoryWalk®

A StoryWalk® is a fun and educational activity that puts the pages of a children’s book around different parts of a community or park, encouraging young and old to walk around and read the entire book together!  StoryWalk®s encourage time spent active and outdoors, inspire outdoor exploration, and foster a sense of community. Every season there will be a new bilingual book chosen for the Hillcrest Park StoryWalk®.
