Summer Reading Program - July 5 to August 16

Readers can either record the minutes they read/listen to books online at mountvernonwa.beanstack.org or they can participate on paper and complete a bingo card. Everyone who participates receives a free book, while supplies last.

Summer Events Include:

  • Color by Numbers Scavenger Hunt (runs July 5 - August 16)
  • Storybook Yoga & Storywalk Launch - July 28, 2pm at Hillcrest Park
  • Kindness Rocks! (rock painting) - August 5, 2pm outside the Library
  • Tie-Dye - Sorry--registration is closed for this activity
    • People who pre-registered can pick-up their T-shirt at the library beginning August 1st to tie dye for FREE at Tri Dee's Tie Dye Tuesdays anytime during the month of August.

Color By Number Scavenger Hunt

This summer we partnered with some downtown businesses for a colorful scavenger hunt. Solve clues that will lead you to specific businesses where you will receive markers to color in your color by number sheet. Once you have finished the hunt, bring your picture to the library to claim your prize.


Pick up hunt forms at the library beginning July 6, or download a sheet below depending on participant's age:

Summer Preschool Take & Make Activity Kits 

Kit # 2 is now available. Click here to request Take & Make Kit #2, while supplies last. Kit #2 includes materials for your little ones to make coffee filter butterflies.


Each kit features an activity to do at home with most materials provided, geared to children ages 2-5. The kits also include another activity recipe (without materials), STEM activity ideas and suggested books to pair with activities. New kits will be available every two weeks for a total of four different summer kits.
