Annual Budgets
Budget Process
The City of Mount Vernon is required by state law to adopt a balanced annual budget. The budget plan reflects the coordinated efforts of all city departments and elected officials in identifying community needs and establishing priorities within the city's financial limitations. Each year a budget is completed and adopted by December 31st.

2017 Budget:
The Mount Vernon City Council adopted the 2017 City Budget on November 22, 2016 following a public hearing and several weeks of discussion and review. The 2017 Preliminary Budget  document is available for viewing.  The adopted budget will be posted to the City website once it is in final form. 

2016 Budget:  
The 2016 Adopted Budget for the City of Mount Vernon is available for viewing. City Council held a public hearing November 24, 2015 and adopted this budget.

Budget Documents

Summarized versions of the 20152014, 20132012, 201120102009 and 2008 budgets are also available for viewing. The City Library carries full versions of all budgets. These documents are presented with the understanding that it is dated information and should be considered historical reference only.
