The Mount Vernon Library Foundation's principal mission is to foster community support for the Library, its Board, and its Staff. The Foundation serves to solicit, receive, manage, and disburse corporate and individual gifts and grants for the enhancement of library facilities, materials, services, and programs, including support of the efforts to build a new library building for Mount Vernon and the region. The Foundation believes strongly that a good library is an essential public service.
We welcome short-term and long-term volunteers ages 15 and older. The library provides training appropriate to the task or bring your own skills.
Donations of Books and Other Materials
The Mount Vernon City Library accepts donations of books, DVDs, CDs and other material in good condition. Some items may be added to our collection or passed along to the Friends of the Mount Vernon City Library-- a support organization-- and sold in used book sales to generate funds for the library. All materials donations must be arranged in advance.
